Excellent post an aspect of publishing that is also changing rapidly but is rarely mentioned.
It’s much easier to understand when you put it that way!
This is the perfect way to break down this information.
It’s about time someone wrote about this.
For decades, writers have assumed that an agent is required for ultimate success. That no longer seems to be true. Now, it seems that an agent is really only required AFTER you are successful and need someone who is savvy with the publishing industry to handle your affairs. Times, they are a’changing!
You’ve hit a nail on the head (sorry, cliche, I know). I vacillate between the two on a regular basis. I lead a writers group and we self-published with Amazon.com’s createspace last year. It was a wonderful experience. So, do I really need an agent? Wish I could make a firm decision.
